School Visits
JAC hosted two Huianas student intern during the spring and summer semesters. One student developed a poster and
web page on careers at astronomical observatories
and presented this poster at the Family Focus event at Prince Kuhio Plaza. The other student worked with one of our
astronomers to develop a web tool for the observation schedule archive of UKIRT.
Both students helped with the production of JAC outreach items.
Both students also composed a poster for their class:
spring (PDF, 9.8 MB),
summer (PDF, 15.9 MB).
The Huiana Internships are a co-operative community project involving the Hawai`i Island Economic Development Board, local schools and the business
and science communities (see more details here).

School Visits
JAC hosted two Huiana student interns during the spring and summer semesters. The students scanned in paper
pictures of our telescopes, instruments, facilities, and historical events. These photos will be featured in
our image gallery later this year. The summer intern also catalogued the outreach library, and researched
background material for JAC's Material Safety Data Sheets. Both also
composed posters for their classes:
