The Joint Astronomy Centre was very proud to be a part of AstroDay 2K2 on 20th April 2002. This huge event at Prince Kuhio Plaza, Hilo, featured many of the Mauna Kea observatories as well as Hawaiian culture exhibits, a Kid's Corner, and other activities.
On the JAC display we had posters about JCMT and UKIRT, a beautiful panoramic picture of the summit taken by Robin Phillips, an UFTI image of Orion, more UKIRT science from Frontiers magazine, and the PPARC schools poster "Is there life out there?".
We also had the Birthday Stars program, a scale model of the JCMT, and leaflets about JAC.
Thanks go to everyone who helped out on the JAC stand, and of course to Gary Fujihara, the AstroDay coordinator, without whom the event would not have happened.
